First Annual Survivor’s Luncheon to Celebrate LifeAugust 31, 2009Cypress Creek EMS and Houston Northwest Medical Center are hosting the First Annual Survivor’s Luncheon on September 10, 2009. The luncheon is a celebration of life for those that have survived cardiac arrest in the Northwest Harris County area. Past patients, paramedics, and first responders will have the opportunity to meet and enjoy a meal together. The event will be held at the Cypress Creek EMS Education Center in Spring, TX. Over the past several years, cardiac arrest patients have had an increased rate of survival. In working with the new American Heart Association guidelines, Cypress Creek EMS and Houston Northwest Medical Center have worked together to improve these rates and increase the quality of life for patients dealing with cardiac issues. With a strong focus on progressive protocols relating to cardiac care, there has been a tremendous increase in Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC). In 2003, ROSC rates were at 19%. Cypress Creek EMS now has a 53% ROSC rate. Cypress Creek EMS and Houston Northwest Medical Center plan to host this event every year in celebration of those that survive cardiac arrest. |
